PARTIE PUBLIQUE SEULEMENT (1105) [ English ] The Chair (Hon. Hedy Fry (Vancouver Centre, Lib.)) : The meeting is public because there's a motion that we need to deal with from Anita Neville. As members recall, Ms. Neville withdrew this temporarily from the table to see if in fact we would get the things that we asked for. Those things have still not arrived, so she's bringing back her motion. It's a motion you know well. Ms. Neville, will you go with your motion? Hon. Anita Neville (Winnipeg South Centre, Lib.) : Yes. The Chair : You can speak to it. Hon.
Anita Neville : I just want to confirm through you, Madam Chair, with the clerk that this information has not been received. I spoke to the motion at the last meeting. I'm not going to belabour it. I think it's incumbent on a department, or in this case an agency of the Department of Canadian Heritage, to provide information and to provide it in a somewhat timely manner. It's been two and a half months since the information was requested by the committee.
It's unfortunate that we have to resort to this kind of method to do it, but I do think the committee is entitled to the information that it asked for and entitled to it in a timely manner. I'm not going to belabour it. The Chair : All right. Did anyone want to speak to this? Yes, Patricia. Mrs. Patricia Davidson (Sarnia—Lambton, CPC) : Very briefly, I would just say that we'll be pleased to support your motion. Hon. Anita Neville : Thank you. Mrs. Patricia Davidson : I think we need it in a timely fashion as well. The Chair : I think we've discussed this motion enough.
I'll call the question on it. (Motion agreed to) [See Minutes of Proceedings ] [Proceedings continue in camera]
