Pierre-Luc Dusseault 41 1 (1610) [ Translation ] The Chair (Mr. Pierre-Luc Dusseault (Sherbrooke, NDP)) : Welcome to the 73rd meeting of the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics. You have had an opportunity to look at today's agenda. We are a bit behind

schedule because a vote has taken place, and another one will probably be held. Mr. Warkentin would like to say something. [ English ] Mr. Chris Warkentin (Peace River, CPC) : Thank you, Chair. My understanding is that there's going to be another vote shortly. I think the testimony that we wanted to hear today is important and that we'll probably have a number of questions, so I'd suggest that we adjourn the meeting now and invite our witness back.

We apologize for the procedures that happen and require us to leave, but I think that would probably be the most appropriate way to move forward. [ Translation ] The Chair : Mr. Angus, go ahead. [ English ] Mr. Charlie Angus (Timmins—James Bay, NDP) : Thank you, Mr. Chair. I feel very bad, Madame Legault, that you are here once again and we're not able to hear you. We believe that your testimony is always very important to our committee, and I don't think it would be fair for all the committee members who would not have a chance to be able to ask you questions if we had a shortened version.

So if we have the good will of the government side that we will invite you back and have a full meeting where we can actually deal with the very important issues you raise, we'll support the motion. [ Translation ] The Chair : There seems to be a consensus that we should ask our witnesses to come back at a later date. As we have already said, we would have liked to hear from you today, but given the situation, we will not be able to do so. I would like to know whether the committee still means to address the third item on today's agenda—committee business.

We have some important decisions to make, and that would take about to 15 minutes, at the most. Does the committee want to cancel the whole meeting or just invite our witnesses to appear at a later date, given the lack of time? What do you want to do? [ English ] Mr. Chris Warkentin : I think we'll move to adjourn. It would be helpful if some members of the opposition and some members of the government had a discussion. We haven't yet had time to discuss some of these matters, so I think it would be helpful to have some of those discussions before we move into committee business.
