We are convened pursuant to Standing Order 106(1), but we'll be proceeding to the election of the chair and vice-chairs pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), for the fourth time this session. I am now ready to receive motions for the position of chair of the committee. Ms. Davidson. Mrs. Patricia Davidson (Sarnia—Lambton, CPC) : I would like to nominate Pierre-Luc Dusseault, please, as chair. The Clerk : Ms. Davidson moves that Monsieur Dusseault be elected chair of the committee.

Are there any other motions? Seeing none, those in favour? (Motion agreed to) The Clerk: With none opposed, congratulations, Monsieur Dusseault, duly elected chair. Some hon. members: Hear, hear! The Clerk: Before I invite Monsieur Dusseault to take his seat, we will proceed to the election of vice-chairs of the committee. Mr. Angus. Mr. Charlie Angus (Timmins—James Bay, NDP) : I nominate Madam Davidson. The Clerk : Mr. Angus moves that Ms. Davidson be elected first vice-chair. Are there any other motions? Seeing none, all those in favour? (Motion agreed to) The Clerk: Congratulations, Ms.

Davidson, elected first vice-chair of the committee. I am now ready to receive motions for the second vice-chair. Mr. Butt. Mr. Brad Butt (Mississauga—Streetsville, CPC) : I would like to move that Mr. Andrews be appointed second vice-chair of the committee. The Clerk : Mr. Butt moves that Mr. Andrews be elected second vice-chair. All those in favour? (Motion agreed to) The Clerk: Congratulations, Mr. Andrews, elected second vice-chair. Pierre-Luc Dusseault (Sherbrooke, NDP)) : Good afternoon, everyone. Thank you for your unwavering confidence. I am pleased to be chair of this committee again. Congratulations to the vice-chairs, Mrs. Davidson and Mr. Andrews. First off today, I need your unanimous consent to add something to the agenda. Do I have unanimous consent to discuss future business? [ English ] Mr. Charlie Angus : I wasn't under the impression that we were going to deal with that today. I'd prefer that we would have the chance to be prepared for that.

Unless you have something specific that you'd like to ask us for, I would prefer that we would come prepared. The Chair : Mr. Warkentin. Mr. Chris Warkentin (Peace River, CPC) : Yes, I think the only thing that committee members would be prepared to discuss today would be any updates that relate to the Washington trip. With the exception of that, I don't think there's anything that our folks are prepared to deal with. [ Translation ] The Chair : We can still just discuss future business. I wanted to give an update on what was in store for Washington. We do not have to have the

summary of the analysts, since it has already been prepared. It can wait for another day, no problem. Do I have unanimous consent? [ English ] Mr. Charlie Angus : Just to be clear, you said you will do the update of the Washington trip, but the analysts report we'll do perhaps at the next meeting? Was that what you said? [ Translation ] The Chair : Yes, it is up to the committee. It is not a problem if you decide to do it Thursday. [ English ] Mr.

Charlie Angus : Yes. [ Translation ] The Chair : I seem to have everyone's consent, so we will have an update on Washington, namely, how many witnesses we have and all the other details, which the clerk will mention without delay. Would the committee prefer to discuss this publicly or in camera? [ English ] Mr. Chris Warkentin : In camera. Mr. Brad Butt : I'll move that it goes in camera. [ Translation ] The Chair : I have a motion from Mr. Butt to hold the meeting in camera. (Motion agreed to.) The Chair: So we will go in camera to discuss the details of the trip.

The meeting will be suspended for a few minutes, and then we will return in camera. [ The meeting continued in camera. ]
