From: Sent: To: LCJC <LCJC@SEN.PARL.GC.CA> Subject: Urgent S-15 written/link submission [***EXTERNE/EXTERNAL***] Dear Mr. Labrosse, My name is Fern Levitt and I am the producer and director of the forthcoming feature documentary titled “The Stolen Life of Lucy the Elephant” I am a veteran director of documentaries for close to 30 years and my documentaries have appeared on several Canadian networks, including our public broadcaster the CBC. During my career I have had the honour of Interviewing several world leaders including President Clinton, President Bush Sr.

President Vaclav Havel and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. My new documentary is an investigative film which focuses on the physical and psychological impact of keeping elephants in zoos. As with all my documentaries, I spend several years in research speaking to leading experts before embarking on my films. Please watch the below link to a clip from my forthcoming film which provides new and shocking evidence of unconscionable elephant abuse at the African Lion Safari. Abuse that was kept carefully hidden from the public till now.

This evidence was provided by Scott Blais who worked for seven years under the tutelage of Charlie Grey who is still in charge of elephant management today. I ask that my email and link to the film clip be added to the Committee's public evidentiary record and also circulated to members of the Committee as soon as possible, with sufficient time for members to consider the evidence in advance of the voting scheduled to commence on Wednesday, May 8.

It is critically important that the Committee views this evidence so they have a full understanding of the truth regarding elephant management at the African Lion Safari, before they vote. I also want to thank the committee for considering the passage of Bill S-15. Ironically this Bill is being voted on just before the release of my documentary which will be released this year. I have included the below link to the film clip in English and with French subtitles. https://vimeo.com/942837328?share=copy Pass Word: ALS Thank you, Fern Levitt DirectorThe Stolen Life of Lucy the Elephant
