THE STANDING SENATE COMMITTEE ON NATIONAL FINANCE

MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9 a.m., in room W110, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable Claude Carignan, P.C., presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boudreau, Carignan, P.C., Dalphond, Forest, Loffreda, MacAdam, Pate, Ross and Smith (9).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senator McPhedran (1).

Participating in the meeting: Sylvain Fleury and Shaowei Pu, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, the committee continued its examination of matters relating to federal estimates generally and other financial matters.

APPEARING:

The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, P.C., M.P., Minister of National Revenue.

WITNESSES:

Canada Revenue Agency:

Bob Hamilton, Commissioner of Revenue;

Gillian Pranke, Assistant Commissioner, Assessment, Benefit and Service Branch;

Marc Lemieux, Assistant Commissioner, Collections and Verification Branch;

Cathy Hawara, Assistant Commissioner, Compliance Programs Branch;

Sonia Côté, Assistant Commissioner, Human Resources Branch and Chief Human Resources Officer;

Sophie Galarneau, Assistant Commissioner, Public Affairs Branch and Chief Privacy Officer;

Harry Gill, Assistant Commissioner, Security Branch and Agency Security Officer.

The minister made a statement and, together with Bob Hamilton, answered questions.

At 10:20 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 10:26 a.m., the committee resumed.

Bob Hamilton, Marc Lemieux, Gillian Pranke, Sophie Galarneau and Harry Gill answered questions.

At 11:07 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
