MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS OTTAWA, Monday, November 28, 2022 (20) [English] The Standing Senate Committee on National Security, Defence and Veterans Affairs met this day at p.m., in room C128, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Tony Dean, presiding. Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Anderson, Boehm, Boisvenu, Dagenais, Dasko, Deacon (Ontario), Dean, Gignac, Oh, Richards and Yussuff (11). Participating in the meeting : Ariel Shapiro and Anne -Marie Therrien-Tremblay, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 10, 2022, the committee continued its study of issues relating to security and defence in the Arctic. WITNESSES (by videoconference): Gwich’in Council International: Devlin Fernandes, Executive Director. Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in First Nation: Roberta Joseph, Chief. Assembly of First Nations: Kluane Adamek, Regional Chief, Yukon. As an individual: Bridget Larocque, Chair, Northern Advisory Board, North American and Arctic Defence and Security Network. Bridget Larocque and Devlin Fernandes each made a statement and answered questions.
