THE STANDING SENATE COMMITTEE ON NATIONAL FINANCE

MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

OTTAWA, Tuesday, October 3, 2023

The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9 a.m., in room W110, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dagenais, Forest, Galvez, Gignac, Loffreda, MacAdam, Marshall, Mockler, Pate and Smith (10).

Participating in the meeting : André Léonard and Shaowei Pu, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, the committee continued its examination of expenditures set out in the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024.

Christopher Veilleux, Chief Financial Officer;

Julie Turcotte, Acting Assistant Deputy Minister, Economic Policy Branch;

Evelyn Dancey, Assistant Deputy Minister, Fiscal Policy Branch;

Samuel Millar, Acting Assist Deputy Minister, Economic Development Branch;

Greg Reade, Assistant Deputy Minister, Crown Investment and Asset Management Branch;

Christopher Veilleux made a statement and, together with Evelyn Dancey, Alison McDermott, Miodrag Jovanovic, Grahame Johnson, Julie Trépanier, Julie Turcotte and Samuel Millar, answered questions.

At 10:11 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 10:14 a.m., the committee resumed.

Andrew Hayes made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:58 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
