THE STANDING SENATE COMMITTEE ON NATIONAL FINANCE

MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

OTTAWA, Wednesday, December 8, 2021

Pursuant to the order of the Senate of November 25, 2021, the Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day in room B30, Senate of Canada Building and with videoconference at 12:03 p.m. ET, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boehm, Dagenais, Loffreda and Pate (4).

Members of the committee present by videoconference: The Honourable Senators Duncan, Forest, Galvez, Gerba, Gignac, Marshall, Mockler and Richards (8).

Participating in the meeting : Kalina Waltos, Procedural Clerk, Annie Trudel, Administrative Assistant, Committees Directorate; Shaowei Pu, Analyst, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, December 2, 2021, the committee began its examination of the Supplementary Estimates (

B) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2022.

APPEARING (by videoconference):

The Honourable Mona Fortier, P.C., M.P., President of the Treasury Board.

Roch Huppé, Comptroller General of Canada;

Karen Cahill, Assistant Secretary and Chief Financial Officer;

Annie Boudreau, Assistant Secretary, Expenditure Management Sector;

Sonya Read, Acting Assistant Secretary, Digital and Services Policy;

Marie-Chantal Girard, Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Employee Relations and Total Compensation;

Rod Greenough, Executive Director, Expenditure Strategies and Estimates.

The minister made a statement and, together with Roch Huppé, Annie Boudreau, Sonya Read and Marie-Chantal Girard, answered questions.

At 1:26 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 1:46 p.m., the committee resumed.

Roch Huppé, Karen Cahill, Annie Boudreau, Sonya Read, Marie-Chantal Girard and Rod Greenough answered questions.

At 3:05 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
