SUMMARY

This enactment amends the Criminal Code to increase from five years to ten years the maximum punishment for an offence under

section 172.1 (luring a child). It also specifies that, in the case of a

summary conviction for this offence, the maximun punishment is eighteen months.

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

Paragraphs 172.1(2)(

a) and (

b) of the Criminal Code are replaced by the following:

(

a) an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term of not more than ten years; or

(

b) an offence punishable on

summary conviction and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding eighteen months.
