OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the President of the Executive Council dated February 24, 2006, and pursuant to Sections 2A, 4B and 4C of
Chapter 376 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Service Act and all other authority in him vested, is pleased to, effective February 24, 2006: (
a) direct that there be created an office of the public service and that the name of that office be the Office of Fisheries and Aquaculture which may be known as Nova Scotia Fisheries and Aquaculture and which shall be presided over by the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture; (
b) direct that all affairs and matters relating to fisheries and aquaculture which have heretofore been assigned by or under any Act of the Legislature to the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries or the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries are assigned to the Office of Fisheries and Aquaculture or the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture as the case may be; (
c) direct that a reference in any Act of the Legislature or in any rule, order, regulation, by-law, ordinance or proceeding or in any document whatsoever to the Department or Minister or Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, whether the reference is by official name or otherwise, shall with respect to any subsequent transaction, matter or thing relating to the affairs or matters or any of them assigned aforesaid be held and construed to be a reference to the Office or Minister or Chief Executive Officer of Fisheries and Aquaculture; (
d) direct that the name of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries be changed to the Department of Agriculture; (
e) direct that a reference in any Act of the Legislature or in any rule, order, regulation, by-law, ordinance or proceeding or in any document whatsoever to the Department or Minister or Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture, the name of which has been changed by this order, whether the reference is by official name or otherwise, shall with respect to any subsequent transaction, be held and construed to be a reference to the Department or Minister or deputy Minister of Agriculture; (
f) assign responsibility for the Office of Fisheries and Aquaculture to the Honourable Ronald Chisholm, a Member of the Executive Council, who may be described as the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture; and (
g) appoint Rosalind Penfound as Chief Executive Officer of the Office of Fisheries and Aquaculture.
