B ILL No. 99 of 1935.

An Act respecting Government Contracts (Assented to HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the L tive Assembly of the Province of Alberta, enacts as fo 1.

This Act may be cited as "The Government Contracts 2, It shall be a term of every contract entered into Government or by any Department thereof for the sUPPly commodities or the performance of any service or for the struction, repair or maintenance of any public work that contractor shall pay to the workmen employed in carrying the contract such rates of wages as 'are fair having rega the rates of wages ordinarily prevailing in the locality which the work is carried out, and every such contract s be presumed to have been entered into with the intent th the. said term should apply thereto, and in case that ter not expressly set out therein the contract shall be read construed as if the term had been so set out therein. 3.

Upon the breach of the said term by any contractor Government shall be entitJed to cancel t~e contract and c~nc.ellation the same shall cease to haY8 any force or e 8QVe and except only with respect to the liability of th t:racto.: under the contract which shall remain unaff ected 4.

Upon it being made to appear to the Lieutenant Gov in Council by any workmen or by any organization of work that a contractor has not or is not paying to all the wo employed by him upon "the contract work wages at such rat a~:e f9.ir taving regard to the rates of wa.§,es (iIdi.narily 1!aili!lg in the locality in which the work is bt::ing carr:!. the Lieutenant Governor in Council may direct the Board Public Utility Commissioners to hold an inquiry into the and to report thereon. 5.

In case it appears by the report of the said Board the co"ntractor has not or is not paying to all workmen e ':Jy him upon the contract work wages at such rates as a:~.: having regard to the rates of wages ordinarily prevailin "~he locality, the Lieutenant Governor in Council may in discretion declare the contract to be cancelled. 6. This Act shall apply to every such contr.act as afc entered into by the Government or by any Department of t Government whether entered into before or after the coroi lnto force of this Act. 7.
