EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Bill would eliminate the requirement that electors' lists be posted in a conspicuous place in each polling division and require, instead, that they be made available to the public for inspection in the returning office.

An Act to amend the Election Act

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

1. (1) Clause 19 (3) (

a) of the Election Act is repealed.

(2) Section 19 of the Act is amended by adding the following subsection:

(3.1) Any person may inspect the copy of the list referred to in clause (3) (

b) in the returning office during its ordinary business hours.

Commencement

2. This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

3. The

short title of this Act is the Election Amendment Act, 1995 .
