Committee of the Whole Third Reading Royal Assent Bill BILL PROVINCIAL COURT AMENDMENT ACT, 1983 (NO. 2) (Assented to , 1983) HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, enacts as follows: / The Provincial Court Act is amended by this Act. 2

Section is repealed and the following is substituted: 25(1) A complaint under this Part may be swom before any jus tice of the peace and any justice of the peace may adjourn any matter from time to time until the matter can be heard by the Court.

(2) A justice of the peace may exercise all duties conferred or imposed on a justice of the peace with respect to judicial interim release by or under any Act of the Legislature or the Pariiament of Canada. 3 This Act comes into force on Proclamation. Explanatory Notes This Bill will amend

chapter P-20 of the Revised Statutes of Alberta 1980. 2

Section presently reads: 25 A complaint under this Part may be sworn befoire any justice of the peace authorized by the Attorney General to receive complaints under this Part and any justice of the peace so authorized may adjourn any matter from time to time until the matter can be heard by the Court.
