EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Bill would amend the House of Assembly Act to provide that reports and other documents that an officer of the House of Assembly is required to submit shall be made available by the speaker or clerk when the house is not in session.

Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows:

1. The House of Assembly Act is amended by adding immediately after

section 19 the following:

Reports to the House of Assembly

19.1

(1) Notwithstanding another Act, where a report or other document that an officer of the House of Assembly is required to submit to the House of Assembly is submitted to the Speaker or the Clerk of the House of Assembly when the assembly is not in session, the speaker or the clerk shall provide a copy to each member and make it available for inspection by the public immediately after the report or other document is submitted.

(2) A report or other document is considered to have been tabled before the House of Assembly when it is submitted to the speaker or clerk under subsection (1).
