Interpretation Act Civil Service Act Housing Development Corporation Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the President of the Executive Council dated May 16, 2013, and pursuant to Sections 7 and 88 of

Chapter 376 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Service Act,

Section 18 of

Chapter 235 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the

Interpretation Act,

Section 10 of

Chapter 70 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Civil Service Act, Sections 3, 4 and 5 of

Chapter 213 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Housing Development Corporation Act, and all authority in him vested, is pleased to, effective May 31, 2013 (

a) revoke the appointment of Robert Wood as Deputy Minister of Community Services; (

b) appoint Dave Ryan as Acting Deputy Minister of Community Services; (

c) designate Dave Ryan as a deputy head within the meaning of the Civil Service Act; (

d) fix and determine the salary of Dave Ryan to be at such rate as may be determined by the Deputy Minister to the Office of the Premier in accordance with the Senior Officials Pay Plan as it applies to Deputy Ministers; (

e) direct that Dave Ryan shall receive all customary benefits associated with the position of deputy head including participation in the Province of Nova Scotia Long Term Disability Plan and such other benefits as may be determined by the Deputy Minister of the Office of the Premier; (

f) amend Order in Council 86-1117 dated September 16, 1986 by deleting paragraph (a);. (

g) approve the Minister of Community Services engaging Robert Wood as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Nova Scotia Housing Development Corporation, upon the following terms and conditions: (

i) the salary of Robert Wood shall be at such rate as may be determined by the Deputy Minister of the Office of the Premier in accordance with the Senior Officials Pay Plan; (ii) Robert Wood shall receive such benefits as may be determined by the Deputy Minister of the Office of the Premier including participation in the Province of Nova Scotia Long Term Disability Plan; (

h) approve the direction and delegation by the Minister of Community Services with respect to the administration and management of the Nova Scotia Housing Development Corporation that the function of President and Chief Executive Officer of the Nova Scotia Housing Development Corporation shall be discharged by Robert Wood; and (

i) amend paragraph (

a) of Order in Council 81-1097G dated August 28, 1981, as amended, respecting the retirement of senior public servants by adding “Robert Wood” to the special class of persons listed therein.
