Order in Council 1301/2019

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas subsection 26.1(1) of the Police Services Act provides for the appointment of a person as Independent Police Review Director;

And

whereas subsection 77(

c) of the Legislation Act, 2006 , provides that power to appoint a person to public office includes power to temporarily appoint another person to the office if it is vacant;

And

whereas Sylvana Capogreco of Toronto was appointed as full-time Independent Police Review Director for the Province of Ontario on an interim basis, effective April 1, 2019, for a fixed term of six months or until a new Director is appointed, whichever occurs first, by Order in Council O.C. 428/2019;

Therefore, pursuant to subsection 26.1(1) of the Police Services Act , the term of Sylvana Capogreco’s appointment as full-time Independent Police Review Director for the Province of Ontario be extended from October 1, 2019 and ending December 31, 2019 or when a new Director is appointed, whichever occurs first.
