OIC Text: The Governor in Council, on the report and recommendation of the President of the Executive Council dated September 14, 2023, and pursuant to Sections 4B, 7, 17A, 25IA, and 84 of
Chapter 376 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Service Act , and
Section 10 of
Chapter 70 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Civil Service Act , is pleased, effective September 14, 2023, to: (
a) revoke the appointment of Laura Lee Langley as Acting Deputy Minister of the Office of Priorities and Planning and Chief Executive Officer of the Office of Communications Nova Scotia; (
b) revoke the appointment of Karen Oldfield as Deputy Minister of the Office of Priorities and Planning; (
c) revoke the appointment of Nancy MacLellan as Deputy Minister of Advanced Education; (
d) revoke the appointment of Paul LaFleche as Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and Deputy Minister of Seniors and Long Term Care; (
e) revoke the appointment of Tracey Taweel as Deputy Minister of Community Services; (
f) revoke the appointment of April Howe as Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture; (
g) revoke the appointment of Tracey Barbrick as Associate Deputy Minister of Seniors and Long Term Care; (
h) revoke the appointment of Jeannine Lagasse´ as Deputy Minister of the Office of Addictions and Mental Health; (
i) revoke the appointment of Kathleen Trott as Associate Deputy Minister of Health and Wellness; (
j) revoke the appointment of Melissa MacKinnon as Associate Deputy Minister of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage; (
k) revoke the appointment of Jennifer Church as Associate Deputy Minister of the Office of Priorities and Planning and as Associate Deputy Minister of Economic Development; (
l) appoint Tracey Barbrick as Deputy Minister of Seniors and Long Term Care; (
m) appoint Ryan Grant as Deputy Minister of Advanced Education; (
n) appoint Byron Rafuse as Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing; (
o) appoint Melissa MacKinnon as Deputy Minister of Community Services; (
p) appoint Kathleen Trott as Deputy Minister of the Office of Addictions and Mental Health; (
q) appoint Jennifer Church as Deputy Minister of the Office of Priorities and Planning and Chief Executive Officer of the Office of Communications Nova Scotia; (
r) appoint Paul LaFleche and Tracey Taweel as Deputy Ministers; (
s) appoint Lilani Kumaranayake as Associate Deputy Minister of Finance and Treasury Board; (
t) prescribe the duties of Paul LaFleche, Tracey Taweel, Kelliann Dean and Dana MacKenzie, each of whom shall be referred to as an Executive Deputy Minister, to include the provision of strategic leadership, direction and coordination of information and advice to government; (
u) designate Byron Rafuse, Ryan Grant and Lilani Kumaranayake as deputy heads within the meaning of the Civil Service Act ; (
v) direct that Byron Rafuse, Ryan Grant and Lilani Kumaranayake shall receive benefits associated with the position of deputy head as may be determined by the Deputy Minister of the Office of the Premier; (
w) fix and determine the salary of Kathleen Trott, Byron Rafuse, Jennifer Church, Ryan Grant, Tracey Barbrick, Melissa MacKinnon, Dana MacKenzie, Tracey Taweel, Kelliann Dean and Paul LaFleche to be at such rate as may be determined by the Deputy Minister of the Office of the Premier in accordance with the Senior Officials Pay Plan as it applies to Deputy Ministers; and (
x) fix and determine the salary of Lilani Kumaranayake to be at such rate as may be determined by the Deputy Minister of the Office of the Premier in accordance with the Senior Officials Pay Plan as it applies to Associate Deputy Ministers.
