OIC Text: The Governor in Council, on the Report and Recommendation of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice dated September 27, 2023, and pursuant to

Section 26B and subsection 26C(1) of

Chapter 31 of the Acts of 2004, the Police Act, and

Section 45.79 of

Part VII.1 of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Act , R.S.C., 1985, c.R-10, is pleased, effective September 28, 2023, to: (

a) revoke Order in Council 2022-329 dated December 19, 2022, which appointed Alonzo Wright, K.C. as Director of the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT); (

b) appoint Erin Nauss as the interim Nova Scotia Civilian Director of the SiRT for a term of not more than one year; (

c) designate Erin Nauss as the designated authority for the purposes of Parts VII.1 and VII.2 of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Act, during her term as the interim Nova Scotia Civilian Director of the SiRT; (

d) fix the salary of Erin Nauss at $7,115.38 bi-weekly, before any deductions required by law, plus adjustments equivalent to those provided to non-bargaining unit civil servants and travel expenses payable in accordance with the travel policies and guidelines of the Province of Nova Scotia; (

e) direct that Erin Nauss be reimbursed for all expenses incurred that would be reimbursed if the expense was incurred by a civil servant; (

f) direct that Erin Nauss shall receive all the customary health, vacation, sickness, and insurance benefits provided to civil servants but is not otherwise a civil servant; (

g) direct that Erin Nauss be indemnified and to extend to Erin Nauss the same protection against liability from suits or claims brought against Erin Nauss in respect of work performed on behalf of the Province as would be provided to a civil servant; and (

h) designate that Erin Nauss continues to be an employee for the purposes of the Public Service Superannuation Act.
