(Special Days Act)
WHEREAS highly qualified apprentices are essential to build a robust and
technologically capable workforce enhancing the competitiveness, innovation and
economic growth of Alberta and the prosperity of Albertans;
WHEREAS Alberta's government is dedicated to increasing awareness of
apprenticeship education to help Albertans reskill and upskill for a changing
economy;
WHEREAS the Government of Alberta recognizes that apprenticeship learning is
equal in value to other post-secondary education, and that this recognition
demonstrates the Government's commitment to creating opportunities for Albertans
to learn practical job skills that meet the demands of the labour market; and
WHEREAS the Alberta 2030: Building Skills for Jobs strategy outlines the vision and
direction for Alberta's post-secondary education system, including establishing a
clear path forward for apprenticeship education programs and skilled trades in
Alberta,
THEREFORE I, Demetrios Nicolaides, Minister of Advanced Education, pursuant to
