Order in Council 106/2023

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas on April 7, 2022, Ontario released its Low-Carbon Hydrogen Strategy to accelerate the development of the province’s low-carbon hydrogen economy;

And

whereas it is desirable that the Independent Electricity System Operator (“ IESO ”) establish a program aimed at integrating low-carbon hydrogen technologies into Ontario’s electricity grid for the purposes of balancing and strengthening Ontario’s reliable electricity system;

And

whereas the Minister of Energy may, with the approval of the Lieutenant Governor in Council, issue directives under subsection 25.32(5) of the Electricity Act, 1998 that require the IESO to undertake any request for proposal or other initiative or activity that relates to, amongst other matters, electricity supply, capacity or storage;

Now therefore the Directive attached hereto is approved.
