OIC Text: The Governor in Council, on the report and recommendation of the President of the Executive Council dated June 13, 2024, and pursuant to Sections 2A, 4, 4B, 7 and 30 of
Chapter 376 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Service Act , and subsection 18(1) of
Chapter 235 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the
Interpretation Act , is pleased, effective June 17, 2024, to: (
a) revoke the appointment of Candace L. Thomas, K.C. as Deputy Attorney General and Deputy Minister of Justice; (
b) revoke the appointment of Tracey Thomas as Associate Deputy Minister of African Nova Scotian Affairs; (
c) revoke the appointment of Jennifer Glennie as Associate Deputy Minister responsible for Executive Council Office and Acting Clerk of the Executive Council; (
d) revoke clauses (
a) and (
b) of Order in Council 2023-141 dated May 23, 2023; (
e) change the name of the Office of Equity and Anti-Racism Initiatives to the Office of Equity and Anti-Racism; (
f) direct that the Office shall be presided over by the Honourable Barbara Adams, a member of the Executive Council, who may be described as the Minister responsible for the Office of Equity and Anti-Racism and who has the supervision, direction and control of all affairs and matters relating to equity and anti-racism initiatives other than the Land Titles Initiative under
Part 1 of the Land Titles Clarification Act ; (
g) appoint Jennifer Glennie as Deputy Attorney General and Deputy Minister of Justice; (
h) appoint Tracey Thomas as Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Minister of the Office of Equity and Anti-Racism; (
i) appoint Tracey Thomas as Deputy Minister of African Nova Scotian Affairs; (
j) prescribe the duties of Karen Gatien, who shall be referred to as an Executive Deputy Minister, to include the provision of strategic leadership, direction and coordination of information and advice to government; and (
k) fix and determine the salary of Jennifer Glennie and Tracey Thomas to be at such rate as may be determined by the Deputy Minister of the Office of the Premier in accordance with the Senior Officials Pay Plan as it applies to Deputy Ministers.
