Powell’s Point Provincial Park Designation

made under

Section 8 of the

Provincial Parks Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 367

O.I.C. 74-1375 (December 19, 1974), N.S. Reg. 128/74

The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and

Forests dated the 26th day of November, A.D., 1974, pursuant to the provisions of

Section 2 of

Chapter 244 of th Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1967, the Provincial Parks Act , is pleased

(

a) constitute all that area of land including land covered with water owned by Her

Majesty in right of the Province of Nova Scotia and situate at or near Little Harbour,

in the County of Pictou, Province of Nova Scotia, to be a Provincial Park, said area

of land being included within the boundaries of the lands described in

Schedule “A”

and shown outlined on the Plan of Survey marked

Schedule “B”, both Schedules

attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation, and

(

b) declare the name by which the park shall be known as “Powell’s Point Provincial

Park”.

Powell’s Point Provincial Park

All that certain lot, piece or parcel of land situate, lying and being at or near Little Harbour,

County of Pictou, Province of Nova Scotia as the same is shown on Plan E-5-26, recorded in

the Crown Land Registry office, Department of Lands and Forests, Halifax, and being more

particularly described as follows:

Beginning at a Crown Land Iron Post (C.L.I.P.) marked 1332 set on the northeastern boundary

of the road leading from Little Harbour to Pictou Landing and the most westerly corner of lands

now or formerly owned by Douglas Bowen and the most southerly corner of lands now or

formerly owned by Frank Bowen;

Thence north fifteen degrees seventeen minutes west (N 15° 17'

W) along the northeastern

boundary of said lands now or formerly owned by Frank Bowen, distant ninety-two decimal

eight (92.8) feet to a C.L.I.P. marked 1333;

Thence north fifty-six degrees thirty minutes east (N 56° 30'

E) along the eastern boundary of

said lands now or formerly owned by Frank Bowen, distant two hundred eighty-five decimal six

(285.6) feet to a C.L.I.P. marked 1334;

Thence north thirty-seven degrees five minutes west (N 37° 05'

W) along the northeastern

boundary of said lands now or formerly owned by Frank Bowen, distant two hundred forty-six

decimal zero (246.0) feet to a C.L.I.P. marked 1335;

Thence south fifty-two degrees fifty-five minutes west (S 52° 55'

W) along the northwestern

boundary of said lands now or formerly owned by Frank Bowen, distant fifty-six (56) feet to a

C.L.I.P. marked 1336;

Thence north thirty-one degrees twenty-five minutes west (N 31° 25'

W) along the northeastern

boundary of lands now or formerly owned by George MacDonald, distant one hundred

twenty-nine decimal seven (129.7) feet to a C.L.I.P. marked 1337;

Thence north fifty-two degrees fifty-five minutes east (N 52° 55'

E) along the southeastern

boundary of said lands now or formerly owned by George MacDonald, distant one thousand

five hundred forty-four decimal five (1544.5) feet to a C.L.I.P. marked 1338;

Thence north fifty-two degrees fifty-five minutes east (N 52° 55'

E) along the southeastern

boundary of said lands now or formerly owned by George MacDonald, distant twelve (12) feet

more or less to the mean high water mark of Little Harbour;

Thence easterly, southeasterly, southerly and westerly following the several courses of the mean

high water mark of Little Harbour and Powell Cove to a C.L.I.P. marked 1331 set on the most

northerly corner of said lands now or formerly owned by Douglas Bowen;

Thence south sixty-four degrees twenty-one minutes west (S 64° 21'

W) along the northwestern

boundary of said lands now or formerly owned by Douglas Bowen, distant one hundred

ninety-one decimal two (191.2) feet to the place of beginning.

The above bearings are magnetic of the year 1969.

The above described lands containing an area of sixty-seven (67) acres more or less.
