Laurie Provincial Park Designation

made under

Section 8 of the

Provincial Parks Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 367

O.I.C. 72-88 (January 25, 1972), N.S. Reg. 125/72

The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and

Forests dated the 17th day of January, A.D. 1972, pursuant to

Section 2 of

Chapter 244 of the

Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1967, the Provincial Parks Act , is pleased to:

(

a) constitute all that area of land including land covered with water owned by Her

Majesty in right of the Province of Nova Scotia and situate at Shubenacadie

(Grand) Lake in the County of Halifax, Province of Nova Scotia, to be a

provincial park, said area of land being more particularly described in

Schedule

“A” attached to the report and recommendation and shown outlined on the

plan of survey marked

Schedule “B” also attached to the report and

recommendation; and

(

b) declare the name by which the park shall be known as “Laurie Provincial

Park.”

Laurie Provincial Park

All that certain lot, piece or parcel of land situate, at Shubenacadie (Grand) Lake, near Oakfield,

in the County of Halifax, shown as Lot “A” and Lot “B” on plan #E-5-2 recorded in the Crown

Land Records Office, Department of Lands and Forests, Halifax, and being more particularly

described as follows:

Lot “A”

Beginning at Crown Land iron post number H1955 situated on the margin of the southeastern

shore of Shubenacadie (Grand) Lake;

From thence (by astronomic bearings) south fifty-eight degrees twenty-four minutes east, five

hundred seventy-two decimal four feet to a stake;

Thence south fifty-eight degrees thirty minutes east, four hundred ten decimal four feet to a

stake;

Thence south sixty degrees forty-eight minutes east, one hundred seventy-nine decimal five feet

to a Crown Land iron post;

Thence south one degree nine minutes east, four hundred nine decimal two feet to a Crown

Land iron post situated on the northerly boundary of the Canadian National Railway

right-of-way;

Thence easterly along the northerly boundary of the Canadian National Railway right-of-way

four hundred nineteen decimal one feet more or less to Crown Land iron post number H1956;

Thence continuing along the northerly boundary of the Canadian National Railway

right-of-way nine hundred sixty-seven feet more or less to point “F” being on the westerly edge

of a brook;

Thence in a northwesterly direction along the western edge of the aforementioned brook

ninety-three feet more or less to Crown Land iron post number H1953;

Thence continuing along the western edge of the aforementioned brook one hundred

ninety-five decimal three feet more or less to Crown Land iron post H1954 situated at the

confluence of said brook with the waters of Shubenacadie (Grand) Lake;

Thence by the several courses of the margin of the shore of Shubenacadie (Grand) Lake,

northwesterly and southwesterly to the place of beginning containing sixty-one acres more or

less;

Together with a right-of-way sixty-six feet in width as shown on aforementioned plan #E-5-2;

Lot “B”

Beginning at point “M” said point being the intersection of the southerly boundary of the

Canadian National Railway right-of-way with the westerly boundary of Highway Number 2;

Thence westerly along the southerly boundary of the Canadian National Railway right-of-way

five hundred eleven decimal five feet more or less to a Crown Land iron post;

Thence (by astronomic bearings) south one degree nine minutes east, two hundred sixty-six

decimal six feet to a Crown Land iron post;

Thence south five degrees forty minutes west, four hundred ninety-one feet to a Crown Land

iron post situated on the northerly boundary of Highway Number 2;

Thence northeasterly and northerly along the boundary of Highway Number 2 to the place of

beginning containing four acres more or less.
