EXPLANATORY NOTE NOTE EXPLICATIVE This Bill proclaims the second week in June in each year as Special Olympics Awareness Week. En vertu du présent projet de loi, la deuxième semaine du mois de juin de chaque année serait proclamée « Semaine de sensibilisation aux Jeux Olympiques spéciaux ».

BILL 209 PROJET DE LOI 209 THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS AWARENESS WEEK ACT

LOI SUR LA SEMAINE DE SENSIBILISATION AUX JEUX OLYMPIQUES SPÉCIAUX (Assented to )

WHEREAS Special Olympics provides year-round sports programs and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-style sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities; AND

WHEREAS there is a need to promote awareness about the abilities of people with intellectual disabilities, and to showcase those abilities throu gh athleticism and sport; AND

WHEREAS Special Olympics enriches lives, fosters respect, promotes dignity and supports advocacy in communities across Manitoba for people with intellectual disabilities; (Date de sanction : ) Attendu : que les Jeux Olympiques spéciaux offrent aux enfants et aux adultes ayant des déficiences intellectuelles des programmes sportifs et des compétitions athlétiques dans différentes disciplines olympiques toute l'année; qu'il est nécessaire de mieux faire connaître au public les aptitudes dont disposent les personnes ayant des déficiences intellectuelles et de mettre en évidence ces talents par le biais de l'athlétisme et du sport; que les Jeux Olympiques spéciaux enrichissent la vie, favorisent le respect, promeuvent la dignité et appuient le travail de défense des intérêts à l'endroit ou au profit des personnes ayant des déficiences intellectuelles, au sein des collectivités manitobaines, THEREFORE HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows: SA MAJESTÉ, sur l'avis et avec le consentement de l'Assemblée législative du Manitoba, édicte : Special Olympics Awareness Week 1 In each year, the second week in June is to be known throughout Manitoba as Special Olympics Awareness Week.
