OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Justice and Attorney General dated May 15, 2013, and pursuant to
Section 22 of
Chapter 214 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Human Rights Act, is pleased, effective July 2, 2013, to: (
a) appoint Darren Desmond, Cape Breton Regional Municipal (Sydney) as a commissioner of the Human Rights Commission for a term of three years; (
b) appoint Andrea Paul, Trenton, Pictou County, as a commissioner of the Human Rights Commission for a term of three years; (
c) determine the remuneration of Darren Desmond and Andrea Paul be at the rate of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) for each half day spent at each duly called meeting of the Commission plus reasonable expenses; and (
d) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against Darren Desmond and Andrea Paul and indemnify them from personal liability, provided that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
