Main-A-Dieu Beach Designation

made under subsection 5(1) of the

Beaches Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 32

O.I.C. 75-518 (May 13, 1975), N.S. Reg. 152/75

The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and

Forests dated the 17th day of April, A.D., 1975, pursuant to subsection (1) of

Section 5 of

Chapter 6 of the Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1975, the Beaches Preservation and Protection Act , is pleased to designate as a beach an area of land lying landward from the mean high

watermark of Main-A-Dieu Beach, in the County of Cape Breton, Province of Nova Scotia, as

shown outlined in red on the copy of Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-8-98, and

described in

Schedule “A” both attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation.

All that certain area of land lying landward from the mean high watermark of Main-A-Dieu

Beach, in the County of Cape Breton, Province of Nova Scotia as shown outlined in red on Plan

No. E-8-98 filed in the Crown Land Records Office, Halifax and being more particularly

described as follows:

Beginning at iron post # C.B. 2450 situate on the eastern limit of the road right-of-way

between Main-A-Dieu and Little Lorraine, the said post having co-ordinate values (north

16, 722, 271.82, east 1, 419, 798.81) based on the Nova Scotia Three Degree Transverse

Mercator Projection, Zone 4, Central Meridian sixty-one degrees thirty minutes west longitude;

From thence (by astronomic bearings referenced to meridian 61° 30' west longitude) southerly

along the eastern limit of the said road leading from Main-A-Dieu to Little Lorraine forty-five

hundred feet more or less (4500'+) to iron post # C.B. 2449 having co-ordinate values

(N 16, 717, 939.66, E 1, 420, 618.44) said iron post being south ten degrees forty-two minutes

forty-nine seconds east (S 10° 42' 49" E), a distance of four thousand four hundred nine decimal

zero one feet (4409.01') from beforementioned iron post # C.B. 2450;

Thence north fifty-eight degrees thirty-two minutes fifty-seven seconds east (N 58° 32' 57" E),

a distance of one hundred six decimal twenty feet (106.20') to iron post # C.B. 2448 having

co-ordinate values (N 16, 717, 995.07, E 1, 420, 709.04);

Thence north fifty-eight degrees thirty-two minutes fifty-seven seconds east (N 58° 32' 57" E),

a distance of eight hundred ninety-three decimal eighty feet (893.80') to a point D located in

Main-A-Dieu Bay and having co-ordinate values (N 16, 718, 461.43, E 1, 421, 471.53);

Thence north eleven degrees thirty-one minutes thirty seconds west (N 11° 31' 30" W), a

distance of three thousand sixty-eight decimal forty-nine feet (3068.49') to a point C located in

Main-A-Dieu Bay and having co-ordinate values (N 16, 721, 468.05, E 1, 420, 858.46);

Thence north fifty-two degrees forty-nine minutes seven seconds west (N 52° 49' 07" W), a

distance of one thousand three hundred thirty decimal zero feet (1330.00') to the place of

beginning.

Excepting and reserving from the above described area of land all the portion thereof lying seaward from the mean high watermark.
