Pomquet Beach Designation

made under subsection 5(1) of the

Beaches Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 32

The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and

Forests dated the 13th day of July, A.D., 1976, pursuant to

Section 5(1) of

Chapter 6 of the

Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1975, the Beaches Preservation and Protection Act , is pleased to

designate as a beach an area of land lying landward from the mean high watermark of Pomquet

Beach, in the County of Antigonish, Province of Nova Scotia, as shown outlined in red on the

copy of Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-7-65, marked

Schedule “B”, and described in

Schedule “A”, both attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation.

Schedule “A”

All that certain area of land lying landward from the mean high watermark of Pomquet Beach,

in the County of Antigonish, Province of Nova Scotia, as shown outlined in red on a copy of

Plan No. E-7-65 attached hereto, filed in the Crown Land Records Office, Halifax and being

more particularly described as follows:

Beginning at point A situated at the intersection of a gravel road leading from Monks Head to

Pomquet Beach and a private road leading to a private residence situated on a high point of land

overlooking St. Georges Bay;

From thence by astronomic bearings referenced to the meridian passing through point A, south

fifty-two degrees three minutes west, a distance of one hundred and ten feet more or less to the

mean high waterline;

Thence in a southerly direction a distance of seven thousand one hundred feet more or less

following the several courses of the mean high waterline to point B;

Thence south thirty degrees forty-four minutes east, one thousand nine hundred and ninety feet

more or less to point C;

Thence in an easterly direction a distance of one thousand four hundred feet following the

several courses of the mean high waterline to the point of intersection of the westerly boundary

of lands owned by the Crown;

Thence continuing in an easterly direction a distance of eight thousand nine hundred feet more

or less to point D;

Thence north thirteen degrees thirty minutes east, two thousand and fifty-seven feet to point E;

Thence north sixty-one degrees sixteen minutes west, nine thousand nine hundred and

seventy-three feet to point F;

Thence south fifty-two degrees, three minutes west, eight hundred and forty-one feet

more or less to the place of beginning.

Excepting and reserving from the above described area of land all the portion thereof lying

seaward from the mean highwatermark.
