EXPLANATORY NOTE NOTE EXPLICATIVE This Bill amends The Highway Traffic Act to prohibit a person from being issued or renewing a driver's lic ence if a warrant for a serious indictable offence is outstanding for the person's arrest. Le présent projet de loi modifie le Code de la route afin d'interdire la délivrance et le renouvellement de p ermis de conduire aux personnes qui font l'objet d'un mandat d'arrestation non exécuté à l'égard d'un acte criminel grave.

section 273.5: 2 Il est ajouté, après l'article 273.5, ce qui suit : Service to be refused if warrant for serious offenc e 273.6 If the registrar is satisfied that a warrant for arrest has been issued for a person in respect of a prescribed indictable offence, the registrar shall, until satisfied the warrant has been executed or cancelle d, (

a) refuse to issue or renew a driver's licence or permit in the name of the person; and (

b) refuse to accept payment from the person of any charge payable in relation to the driver's licence or permit, even though the refusal may lead to its suspension.
