Section 4 of the Change of Name Act,

chapter C-2.001 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 1987, is amended 1 L’article 4 de la

a) by repealing subsection (1) and substituting the following:

Section 16 of the Act is amended by adding after subsection (4) the following: 6 L’article 16 de la Loi est modifié par l’adjonction de ce qui suit après le paragraphe (4) : 16(5) If the Registrar General keeps registrations in re- spect of changes of registered names in an electronic in- formation storage system, any reference in this Act to the Registrar General making an entry on a document shall be deemed to include the making of an entry in the electronic information storage system having the same or similar ef- fect as the entry required under this Act. 16(5) Si le registraire général conserve, au moyen d’un système électronique de mise en mémoire de l’informa- tion, les enregistrements concernant les changements de noms enregistrés, toute renvoi dans la présente loi aux mentions inscrites par le registraire général sur un docu- ment vaut renvoi aux mentions inscrites au système élec- tronique de mise en mémoire de l’information ayant l’effet identique ou semblable à la mention qu’exige la présente loi. 16(6) If the Registrar General keeps registrations in re- spect of changes of registered names in an electronic in- formation storage system, a requirement imposed by or under this Act, any other Act or any regulation under this or any other Act that the Registrar General make a notation on a registration or a correction in a registration shall be deemed to be met if the Registrar General makes an entry in the electronic information storage system having the same or similar effect as the required notation or correction with the result that the system causes a notice containing the information entered to appear whenever the document is accessed on the system. 16(6) Si le registraire général conserve, au moyen d’un système électronique de mise en mémoire de l’informa- tion, les enregistrements concernant les changements de noms enregistrés, toute disposition de la présente loi ou de son règlement d’application ou de toute autre loi ou règle- ment exigeant que le registraire général apporte une men- tion ou une correction à un enregistrement est réputée avoir été remplie s’il apporte une mention ou une correction au système électronique de mise en mémoire de l’information ayant l’effet identique ou semblable à la mention ou la correction requise de sorte que le système puisse produire un avis de la mention ou de la correction à chaque fois qu’on accède au document. 7

Section 17 of the Act is amended 7 L’article 17 de la Loi est modifié (

a) by repealing subsection (1) and substituting the following:

Section 18 of the Act is amended by adding after paragraph (

Section 1 of the Marriage Act,

chapter M-3 of the Revised Statutes, 1973, is amended by repealing the def- inition “Registrar” and substituting the following: 10 L’article 1 de la

chapter V-3 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 1979, is amended 14 L’article 1 de la

section 4 of the Coroners Act and it is im- practical for the coroner to complete the medical certifi- cate of cause of death portion of the death registration form, the coroner may issue a warrant to bury when the coroner has examined the body in accordance with the Coroners Act, and the Registrar General shall issue a burial permit on the delivery to the Registrar General of the war- rant to bury, and the coroner shall complete the medical certificate of cause of death portion of the death registra- tion form and deliver or mail the form to the Registrar General within the time prescribed by regulation. 31(2)
