EXPLANATORY NOTE NOTE EXPLICATIVE This Bill proclaims the month of September of each year as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. En vertu du présent projet de loi, le mois de septe mbre de chaque année est proclamé « Mois de la sensibilisati on au cancer chez l'enfant ».

BILL 209 PROJET DE LOI 209 THE CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH ACT

LOI SUR LE MOIS DE LA SENSIBILISATION AU CANCER CHEZ L'ENFANT (Assented to ) (Date de sanction : )

WHEREAS cancer is the most common disease-related cause of death among children; AND

WHEREAS approximately 1,400 children across Canada are diagnosed with cancer each year; AND

WHEREAS there is a need to increase awareness of and education about childhood cancer; AND

WHEREAS many organizations in Canada and elsewhere have recognized the month of September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, including the Canadian Cancer Society; Attendu : que le cancer est la principale cause de décès lié à la maladie chez les enfants; qu'environ 1 400 enfants canadiens reçoivent chaque année un diagnostique de cancer; qu'il faut davantage sensibiliser et informer la population sur le cancer chez l'enfant; que de nombreux organismes au Canada et ailleurs reconnaissent le mois de septembre comme étant le Mois de la sensibilisation au cancer chez l'enfant, y compris la Société canadienne du cancer, THEREFORE HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows: SA MAJESTÉ, sur l'avis et avec le consentement de l'Assemblée législative du Manitoba, édicte : Childhood Cancer Awareness Month 1 The month of September in each year is to be known throughout Manitoba as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
