Le projet de loi prévoit la nomination du directeur du Bu- reau de la protection des adulte s pour assurer la protection des adultes maltraités et négligés qui sont incapables de se protége r contre les mauvais traitements ou la négligence en raison d’une incapacité ou infirmité physique ou mentale. The Bill provides for mandatory reporting of adult abuse o r neglect to the Director of the Adult Protection Office and re- quires the Director to make inquiries with respect to all suc h reports. If the Director finds that there are reasonable grounds to suspect that the adult who is the subject of the report is in need of protection, the Director must cause an investigation to be made. The Director may apply to the court for an order au- thorizing entry to premises for the purpose of conducting the investigation. If, after the investigation, the Director is satisfie d that the adult is in need of pr otection and if the adult is willing to accept assistance, the Director is required to assist the adult in obtaining services, moving to other premises the Director con- siders suitable or taking other acti ons that will provide the adult with protection from abuse and with proper care and attention.
