Statute: Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage dated April 17, 2014, and pursuant to

Section 5 of

Chapter 22 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Act , is pleased to: (

a) revoke the appointment of David Postill as member of the Board of Governors of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, which appointment was made by Order in Council 2012-145 dated May 1, 2012, effective June 3, 2014; (

b) appoint Mayann Francis, Sadira Jan and Tara Larsen, all of Halifax Regional Municipality (Halifax), as members of the Board of Governors of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, each for a three year term commencing July 5, 2014; and (

c) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against Mayann Francis, Sadira Jan and Tara Larsen in their capacity as members of the Board of Governors of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and indemnify them from personal liability in connection with any such claims, provided, however, that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointments and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
