Order in Council 872/2025

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas certain persons have obligations or debts due to the Crown in right of Ontario and the Crown in right of Ontario has claims against certain persons;

And

whereas , pursuant to subsection 5(1) of the Financial Administration Act , the Minister of Finance and the President of the Treasury Board, on the basis of information provided by the Honourable Ministers of the Ministries listed in the attached schedule, have:

Negotiated and accepted settlements in payment and satisfaction of certain obligations, debts and claims;

Determined that certain obligations, debts and claims are uncollectable; and

Determined that financial hardship, economic considerations and other circumstances do not warrant the collection or enforcement of certain obligations, debts and claims;

And

whereas the Minister of Finance and the President of the Treasury Board recommend, and the Lieutenant Governor in Council concurs, that it is in the public interest to delete from the accounts of the Government of Ontario the obligations, debts and claims that are the subject of a settlement or determination of the Minister of Finance and the President of the Treasury Board referred to above, in the aggregate amount of $148,369,900 for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2025;

Therefore , pursuant to subsection 5(2) of the Financial Administration Act , obligations, debts and claims that are the subject of a settlement or determination of the Minister of Finance and the President of the Treasury Board referred to above, in the aggregate amount of $148,369,900 are deleted from the accounts of the Government of Ontario for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2025.
