Interpretation Act
OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice dated March 8, 2016, and pursuant to
Section 52 of
Chapter 1 (1992 Supplement) of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the House of Assembly Act , and
Section 19 of
Chapter 235 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the
Interpretation Act , is pleased, effective May 1, 2016, to: (
a) subject to clause (b), appoint Philip Grassie, Barrister of Iqaluit, in the Territory of Nunavut, a Legislative Counsel; (
b) determine the appointment be for a probationary period and that the appointment be made permanent after one year of satisfactory service as is determined by the Chair of the House of Assembly Management Commission; (
c) determine the salary scale of Philip Grassie to be at the Civil Service scale in force from time to time for Solicitors in the Department of Justice and determine the salary of Philip Grassie to be at such class and level as is determined from time to time by the Chair of the House of Assembly Management Commission; and (
d) direct that Philip Grassie, in carrying out his duties shall be subject to the supervision, direction and control of the Chief Legislative Counsel.
