EXPLANATORY NOTES

This Bill would amend the Arts Council Act to

remove the requirement that the

accounts and financial transactions of the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council

comply with the Financial Administration

Act ; and

add a requirement that the

financial statement of the Newfoundland

and Labrador Arts Council be audited by the auditor general.

Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and

House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows:

Section 14 of the Arts Council Act is repealed and the following substituted:

Audit

(1) The auditor general shall annually audit the financial statement of the

council.

(2) The financial year of the council shall be from

April 1 in

one year to March 31 in

the next year.
