Minimum qualifications for appointment as Chief Inspector 3 In addition to the requirements in the Act for appointing a person as Chief Inspector, the following are prescribed as the minimum qualifications to be met by a person appointed as Chief Inspector: (

a) the person must have earned a hi gh school diploma or the equivalent; (

b) the person must have a valid driver’s licence; (

c) the person must have experience handling and training animals; and (

d) the person must demonstrate that they ha ve the necessary investigatory skills and knowledge to act as Chief Inspector. N.S. Section 14 of the Petroleum Products Pricing Act and Sections 16 to 19 of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulations Before: Peter W. Gurnham, Q.C., Chair Order

Whereas the purpose of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulations is to ensure just and reasonable prices for specified petroleum products taking into consideration the objectives of preserving the availability of such products in rural areas, stabilizing prices of such products and minimizing the variances in prices of such products across the Province; And

whereas the Nova Scotia Utility and Review (“Board”) considered the manner in which it would proceed to set petroleum prices in its decision, 2006 NSUARB 108, issued on October 16, 2006; And

whereas the average of the average of the daily high and low reported product prices (in Canadian cents) for the week ended January 20, 2010, are: Grade 1 Regular gasoline 56.4¢ per litre Ultra-low-sulfur diesel oil 55.5¢ per litre

Now therefore the Board prescribes the benchmark prices for petroleum products to be: Gasoline: Grade 1 56.4¢ per litre Grade 2 59.4¢ per litre Grade 3 62.4¢ per litre Ultra-low-sulfur diesel oil 55.5¢ per litre And

now therefore the Board has determined, based on historical data regarding price changes and to achieve revenue neutrality, it is appropriate to apply, and the Board so orders, forward averaging corrections of: Gasoline: 0.0¢ per litre Ultra-low-sulfur diesel oil: 0.0¢ per litre And

whereas a winter blending adjustment of plus 3.8¢ per litre is required for ultra-low-sulfur diesel oil; And

now therefore the Board prescribes the prices for petroleum products as set forth in

Schedule “A” Regulations Respecting the Prescribing of Drugs by Pharmacists made by the Governor in Council pursuant to subsection 80(2) of

Chapter 36 of the Acts of 2001, the Pharmacy Act Citation 1 These regulations may be cited as the Pharmacist Drug Prescribing Regulations.

Definitions 2 In these regulations, “Schedule I drugs” means scheduled drugs listed in

Schedule I prescribed under

Section 78 of the Act; “Schedule II drugs” means scheduled drugs listed in

Schedule II prescribed under

Section 78 of the Act; “Schedule III drugs” means scheduled drugs named in

Schedule III prescribed under

Section 78 of the Act; “standards of practice” means the standards of practice adopted and amended by the College.

Schedule II or

Schedule III drugs under these regulations to treat a condition.

(2) A pharmacist may prescribe

Schedule I drugs under these regulations in accordance with the standards of practice to treat conditions approved by the Council.

(3) A pharmacist may prescribe any drugs under these regulations in any of the following circumstances to maintain or enhance patient care: (

a) under conditional authority in accordance with

Section 24 of the Qualification and Professional Accountability Regulations made under the Act; (

b) to provide or replace a supply, or a portion of a supply, of prescription drugs in an emergency, as determined by Council; (

c) to renew an existing prescription; (

d) to adapt an existing prescription by modifying any of the following: (

i) the dose of the drug, (ii) the formulation of the drug, (iii) the regimen for the drug, (iv) how long the drug is to be taken; (

e) to substitute a drug with another in the same therapeutic class; (

f) in a practice setting approved by Council—such as a hospital, a home for special care or a multi-disciplinary environment—where collaborative relationships or appropriate protocols are established; (

g) in emergency circumstances identified by the Council to be in the public interest. Knowledge and understanding of pharmacist prescribing drug 4 A pharmacist must have enough knowledge and understanding of all of the following to prescribe a drug for a condition: (

a) the condition being treated; (

b) the drug being prescribed; (

c) the status of the patent’s health at the time the drug is prescribed. Information to be provided to patient or patient’s agent 5 A pharmacist who prescribes a drug under these regulations must provide a patient or a patient’s agent with enough information for the patient or patient’s agent to make an informed and voluntary decision regarding the prescribed therapy.

a) document and monitor all actions taken in prescribing the drugs; (

b) communicate all actions taken in prescribing th e drugs to the patient’s primary care provider as soon as reasonably possible. N.S. Whereas the purpose of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulations is to ensure just and reasonable prices for specified petroleum products taking into consideration the objectives of preserving the availability of such products in rural areas, stabilizing prices of such products and minimizing the variances in prices of such products across the Province; And

whereas the Nova Scotia Utility and Review (“Board”) considered the manner in which it would proceed to set petroleum prices in its decision, 2006 NSUARB 108, issued on October 16, 2006; And

whereas the average of the average of the daily high and low reported product prices (in Canadian cents) for the week ended January 27, 2010, are: Grade 1 Regular gasoline 55.2¢ per litre Ultra-low-sulfur diesel oil 54.6¢ per litre

Now therefore the Board prescribes the benchmark prices for petroleum products to be: Gasoline: Grade 1 55.2¢ per litre Grade 2 58.2¢ per litre Grade 3 61.2¢ per litre Ultra-low-sulfur diesel oil 54.6¢ per litre

now therefore the Board has determined, based on historical data regarding price changes and to achieve revenue neutrality, it is appropriate to apply, and the Board so orders, forward averaging corrections of: Gasoline: 0.0¢ per litre Ultra-low-sulfur diesel oil: minus 0.6¢ per litre And

whereas a winter blending adjustment of plus 3.6¢ per litre is required for ultra-low-sulfur diesel oil; And

now therefore the Board prescribes the prices for petroleum products as set forth in
