Bill 20 (Legislature 10, Session 4)

L10 S4 7364

Alberta — Bills

Bill No. 20 of 1947. A BILL TO AMEND THE SOLDIERS' RELIEF ACT NOTE. This Bill amends

section 2, subsection (2) of the above Act by adding a new pa·ragraph (dd) immediately after paragraph (d). Paragraph (

d) provides that for the pur poses of the Act which relates principally to tax exemption, a soldier shall cease to be a soldier at the expiration of the calendar year in which he is discharged in the ordinary course other than for the causes set out in ~lause (

i) of paragraph (d). It has been considered desirable to fix a limit of tax exemption at the end of the year for soldiers who have not been discharged. It is understood that a considerable number of soldiers have transferred into the permanent forces without taking thei-r discharge. It has been found necessary to fix a cut-off date for the tax exemption. This has been fixed at the end of the year 1947. W. S. GRAY, Legislative Counsel.
