Act comes into force on Proclamation; and

WHEREAS the Mineral Resource Development Act, except for the words ", mines,

c) and

Part 3, were proclaimed in force on March 1,

2023; and

Purpose: Truth and Reconciliation Day is a day of reconciliation, hope and healing

throughout Alberta. The day is to acknowledge the truth and raise awareness of

Indigenous people's history, realities, experiences, and ongoing effects of the

residential schools and is part of the important work to advance reconciliation and

build a strong, safe and prosperous future for Indigenous people. The day included

the opening of the reconciliation garden and the unveiling of the Residential Schools

Monument that honors survivors and all the children who were lost to their families

and communities. The reconciliation garden and Residential Schools Monument is on

the Alberta Legislature grounds.
