WILDLIFE AMENDMENT REGULATION

Made by the Minister of Sustainable Resource Development (M.O. 33/03) on

August 7, 2003 pursuant to sections 12, 23 and 103 of the Wildlife Act.

1 The Wildlife Regulation (AR 143/97) is amended by this Regulation.

Section 30(17) is amended by striking out "510, 521, 523, 527 and 537"

and substituting "511, 520, 523 to 525, 528, 534 to 537, 539, 540 and 542".

Police Act

SPECIAL CONSTABLE EQUIPMENT AMENDMENT REGULATION

Made by the Solicitor General for the Province of Alberta (M.O. 8/2003) on

July 31, 2003 pursuant to

section 62 of the Police Act.

1 The Special Constable Equipment Regulation (AR 322/90) is amended by

this Regulation.

Section 2 is amended

(

a) by adding "or by

section 9" after "General";

(

b) by adding ", a restricted weapon or a prohibited weapon" after

"firearm".

3 Sections 3, 4 and 6 are amended by adding ", a restricted weapon or a

prohibited weapon" after "firearm" wherever it occurs.

Section 9 is repealed and the following is substituted:

Possession of weapons by certain officers without authorization

9 Notwithstanding that a special constable has not been issued an

authorization under this Regulation in respect of a firearm or a restricted

weapon, where that special constable

(

a) is also a conservation officer appointed under

section 1 of

Schedule 3.1 of the Government Organization Act or a wildlife

officer appointed under

section 1.1(1) of the Wildlife Act, and

(

b) is, with respect to the carrying out of duties as a

conservation officer or wildlife officer, authorized to possess a firearm

or a restricted weapon, as the case may be,

that person may carry out duties as a special constable despite

possessing the firearm or the restricted weapon, as the case may be.

5 This Regulation comes into force on August 1, 2003.
