OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage dated March 22, 2012, and pursuant to Sections 12, 13 and 15 of
Chapter 4 of the Acts of 1994-1995, the Gaming Control Act, is pleased to: (
a) reappoint Jeff Langley of Halifax Regional Municipality (Windsor Junction) as a member of the Board of Directors of the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation for a term of three years commencing May 1, 2012; (
b) reappoint Gordon Gillis of Eureka, Pictou County and Merlin Fownes of Halifax Regional Municipality (Hammonds Plains) as members of the Board of Directors of the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation, each for a term of three years commencing May 30, 2012; (
c) reappoint Gordon Gillis of Eureka, Pictou County as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation; (
d) order that Gordon Gillis be remunerated for his service in the amount of $400 per meeting and be reimbursed for reasonable expenses actually incurred in fulfilling his duties as Chair, and that Merlin Fownes and Jeff Langley be remunerated for their service each in the amount of $250 per meeting and be reimbursed for reasonable expenses actually incurred in fulfilling their duties as Members, provided such reimbursements do not exceed those normally paid to members of the civil service; and (
e) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against the above appointments of the Board of Directors of the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation and indemnify them from personal liability in connection with any such claims, provided, however, that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
