Bill 64 Mr. Anderson BILL 64 1981 ENVIRONMENT STATUTES AMENDMENT ACT, 1981 (Assented to , 1981) HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, enacts as follows: Alberta Environmental Research Trust Act 1(1) The Alberta Environmental Research Trust Act is amended by this section.

(2) Section 3(

b) is amended by adding “and development” after “research”.

(3) Section 4(

d) is amended by adding “and development” after “research”. Department of the Environment Act 2(1) The Department of the Environment Act is amended by this section. 1

Explanatory Notes Alberta Environmental Research Trust Act 1(1) This

section will amend

chapter 31 of the Statutes of Alberta, 1971.

(2) Section 3(

b) presently reads: 3 The objects of the trust are (

b) subject to any prior trust conditions imposed upon the use of the property, or the income thereof, or any of it, to hold, use and administer it for the purpose of provincial expansion of applied and fundamental research relative to environmental improvement.

(3) Section 4(

d) presently reads: 4 The trust (

d) shall endeavour, to the extent that it considers it reasonably feasible to do so, to apportion grants of its funds for research in each year equally between persons or bodies that are supported entirely or mainly by public moneys and those that are not. Department of the Environment Act 2(1) This

section will amend

chapter 24 of the Statutes of Alberta, 1971. 1

(2) Section 9(2) is amended by striking out “Minister of Energy and Natural Resources" and substituting “Associate Minister of Public Lands and Wildlife". In accordance with

section 4(1) of The Interpre tation Act, 1980, this Bill comes into force on the date it receives Royal Assent. 2

(2) Section 9(2) presently reads:

(2) Land acquired under this

section shall be under the administration of the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources unless, before or after the acquisition, the Lieutenant Governor in Council, by order, directs that it is under the administration of the Minister of the Environment or some other Minister. 2 Title: 1981 (19th, 3rd) Bill 64, Environment Statutes Amendment Act, 1981
