EXPLANATORY NOTE NOTE EXPLICATIVE Under provisions of The Highway Traffic Act , a person who is convicted of certain offences can have his o r her vehicle forfeited or driver's licence automatically suspended. This Bill makes those provisions apply in the case of street racing offences recently added t o the Criminal Code . Le présent projet de loi modifie le Code de la route de manière à ce que ses dispositions portant sur la confiscation des véhicules et la suspension automat ique des permis de conduire s'appliquent aux infractions relatives aux courses de rue qui ont récemment été ajoutées au Code criminel (Canada).

H60 amended 1 The Highway Traffic Act is amended by this Act. Modification du c. section 249.2 (criminal negligence causing death while street racing); (g.2)

2 3 Subsection 264(1) is amended (

a) in the definition "Category A offence", by adding the following after subclause (a)(i): (i.1) subsection 249.4(1) (dangerous operation while street racing), (

b) in the definition "Category B offence", by adding the following after subclause (a)(vi): (vi.1)

section 249.2 (criminal negligence causing death while street racing), (vi.2)

section 249.3 (criminal negligence causing bodily harm while street racing), (vi.3) subsection 249.4(3) (dangerous operation causing bodily harm while street racing), (vi.4) subsection 249.4(4) (dangerous operation causing death while street racing), 3 Le paragraphe 264(1) est modifié :

a) dans la définition de « infraction de catégorie A », par adjonction, après le sous-alinéa a)(i), de ce qui suit : (i.1) le paragraphe 249.4(1),
