OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the President of the Executive Council dated April 17, 2011, and pursuant to Sections 4 and 4D of

Chapter 376 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Service Act,

Section 18 of

Chapter 235 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the

Interpretation Act, and all other authority in her vested, is pleased to, effective April 19, 2011: (

a) direct that all affairs and matters pertaining to emergency management which have heretofore been assigned by or under any Act of the Legislature to the Emergency Management Office or the Minister of Emergency Management are assigned to the Department of Justice or the Minister of Justice as the case may be; (

b) revoke Order in Council 2011-22 dated January 11, 2011 assigning responsibility for the Emergency Management Office to the Honourable Ross Landry; (

c) revoke the appointment of Marian F. Tyson, Q.C., as Chief Executive Officer of the Emergency Management Office; (

d) abolish the Emergency Management Office; (

e) direct that a reference in any Act of the Legislature or in any rule, order, regulation, by-law, ordinance or proceeding, or in any document whatsoever, to the Emergency Management Office or to the Minister of Emergency Management or the Chief Executive Officer of the Emergency Management Office, whether the reference is by official name or otherwise, shall with respect to any subsequent transaction, matter or thing be held and construed to be a reference to the Department of Justice or to the Minister of Justice or Deputy Minister of Justice, as the case may be.
