Statute: Crop and Livestock Insurance Act Members and Public Employees Disclosure Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Agriculture dated April 10, 2008, and pursuant to clause 7(1)(

d) of

Chapter 113 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Crop and Livestock Insurance Act, and Sections 2 and 3 of the Arbitration Proceedings Regulations, is pleased to: (

a) appoint David Melvin of Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality, as a Member of the Nova Scotia Crop and Livestock Insurance Arbitration Board, for a term of three years, commencing April 15, 2008 and expiring April 14, 2011; (

b) determine the rate of remuneration for carrying out duties as Member to be $100 per day; (

c) determine that reasonable expenses necessarily incurred by the Member in carrying out board duties shall be paid in accordance with provincial government policy; (

d) determine that as a condition of appointment, Mr. Melvin shall be bound by the principles and purposes of the Corporate Code of Conduct for Civil Servants and

Chapter 4 of the Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1991, the Members and Public Employees Disclosure Act; and (

e) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate, or settle claims or charges made against Mr. Melvin, and indemnify him from personal liability, provided that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of activities in relation to his appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends him, the Province will be in control of the case.
