Statute: Sydney Steel Corporation Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister responsible for the Sydney Steel Corporation Act dated April 24, 2008, and pursuant to Sections 8 and 11 of

Chapter 456 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Sydney Steel Corporation Act, is pleased to: (

a) revoke the appointment of John W. Traves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Sydney Steel Corporation, which appointment was made by Order in Council 2001-271 dated June 8, 2001; (

b) appoint Gary Campbell of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, as President and Chief Executive Officer of Sydney Steel Corporation, effective May 1, 2008; and (

c) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate, or settle claims or charges made against the Directors, President and Chief Executive Officer appointed by the Province and indemnify them from personal liability, provided the Province is satisfied the claim or charge arising out of their activities in relation to their appointment is not based on fraud or criminal activity, and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
