KEITH ASHFIELD BILL Heritage Hunting, Fishing and Trapping Act Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as fol- lows: 1 The following

definitions apply in this Act. “Commission” means the Fish and Wildlife Commis- sion. (Commission) “Minister” means the Minister of Natural Resources. (ministre) 2 A person has a right to hunt, fish and trap in accor- dance with the law. 3 A commission, to be known as the Fish and Wildlife Commission, is hereby established in recognition of the important roles hunting, fishing and trapping have played shaping New Brunswick’s social, cultural and economic heritage. 4 The Commission shall be composed of such number of persons as may be appointed by the Lieutenant- Governor in Council, one of whom shall be designated by the Lieutenant-Governor in Council as the chair of the Commission.

(Commission) « ministre »

Le ministre des Ressources naturelles . (Minister) 2 Une personne a le droit de chasser, de pratiquer la pêche sportive et de faire du piégeage conformément à la Loi. 3 Par les présentes, une commission connue comme la Commission sur le poisson et la faune, est établie en re- connaissance du rôle important qu’ont joué la chasse, la pêche sportive et le piégeage dans le façonnement du pa- trimoine social, culturel et économique du Nouveau- Brunswick. 4 La Commission sera composée d’un nombre de per- sonnes nommées par le lieutenant-gouverneur en conseil, dont l’une sera désignée à la présidence de la Commission par le lieutenant-gouverneur en conseil. 2 Projet de loi

Loi sur la chasse, la pêche sportive et le piégeage patrimoniaux The Commission shall consider and make recommen- dations to the Minister on the following matters: (

a) the promotion of practices that will contribute to hunting, fishing and trapping being valued by future generations; (

b) the promotion of public participation in fish and wildlife conservation programs; (

c) the promotion of youth participation in hunting, fishing, trapping and other activities related to fish and wildlife; (

d) the promotion of tourism based on hunting, fish- ing and other activities related to fish and wildlife; (

e) the promotion of new opportunities for hunting, fishing, trapping and other activities related to fish and wildlife; and (

f) any other matter referred to the Commission by the Minister. 6 The Minister shall annually submit a report on the ac- tivities of the Commission to the Lieutenant-Governor in Council and shall then table the report in the Legislative Assembly. 7 The Lieutenant-Governor in Council may make regu- lations generally for the better administration of this Act. 8 This Act comes into force on a day to be fixed by proclamation. 5 La Commission doit étudier les questions suivantes et formuler des recommandations y afférentes pour le ministre :

a) la promotion de pratiques qui contribueront à met- tre en valeur auprès des générations futures la chasse, la pêche sportive et le piégeage;

b) la promotion auprès du public de la participation de ce dernier aux programmes de conservation du pois- son et de la faune;

c) la promotion auprès des jeunes de la participation de ceux-ci aux activités de chasse, de pêche sportive, de piégeage et de toute autre activité associée au pois- son et à la faune;

d) la promotion du tourisme axé sur la chasse, la pê- che sportive et toute autre activité associée au poisson et à la faune;

e) la promotion de nouvelles perspectives liées à la chasse, à la pêche sportive, au piégeage et à toute autre activité associée au poisson et à la faune;

f) toute autre question dirigée à la Commission par le ministre. 6 Le ministre doit soumettre un rapport annuel sur les activités de la Commission au lieutenant-gouverneur en conseil et doit déposer le rapport à l’Assemblée législa- tive. 7 Le lieutenant-gouverneur en conseil peut établir des règlements visant une meilleure administration de la pré- sente loi. 8 La présente loi entre en vigueur à la date fixée par proclamation.
