EXPLANATORY NOTE NOTE EXPLICATIVE This Bill proclaims March 6 in each year as Lymphedema Awareness Day. Le présent projet de loi a pour objet d'établir la « Journée de sensibilisation au lymphœdème », qui serait observée le 6 mars chaque année.

BILL 209 PROJET DE LOI 209 THE LYMPHEDEMA AWARENESS DAY ACT

WHEREAS lymphedema is an accumulation of lymphatic fluid that causes swelling of the arms, l egs and other parts of the body and can lead to severe infection or the loss of use of limbs; AND

WHEREAS persons with lymphedema must endure a variety of hardships and challenges; AND

WHEREAS there is currently no cure for lymphedema; AND

WHEREAS March 6 in each year is set aside as Lymphedema Awareness Day in order to increase public awareness of this serious medical condition; Attendu : qu'un lymphœdème constitue une accumulation de liquide lymphatique qui cause l'enflure des bras, des jambes et d'autres parties du corps, et qui peut entraîner de graves infections ou la perte de l'usage de membres; que les personnes atteintes d'un lymphœdème doivent affronter diverses épreuves et obstacles; qu'il n'existe actuellement aucun remède au lymphœdème; que le 6 mars chaque année est déjà retenu à
