EXPLANATORY NOTE NOTE EXPLICATIVE Currently, applications under The Civil Remedies Against Organized Crime Act must be brought by a police chief. This Bill transfers that function to the newly crea ted position of director. The Bill sets out the powers and responsibilities of the director. À l'heure actuelle, les requêtes visées par la

a) by repealing the definition "police chief"; and (

b) by adding the following definition: "director" means the person appointed under The Civil Service Act as the director for the purposes of this Act; (« directeur ») 2 Le paragraphe 1(1) est modifié :

4 Subsection 3(1) is amended (

a) by striking out " a police chief is satisfied that a respondent " and substituting " the director is satisfied that a person "; and (
