EXPLANATORY NOTES

The Local Authority Guarantee Act, 1957

provides for the raising of money by certain local authorities.

Under the Act the Crown may loan to or guarantee the repayment of a

loan, a bond or a debenture issued by a local authority named in the

Schedule up to the amount and for the term set out in the

Schedule

in relation to the local authority

Clause 1 of the Bill would amend the

Schedule to

the Act to add municipal loans and guarantees issued during the

period September 1, 1999 to January 11, 2000.
