EXPLANATORY NOTE NOTE EXPLICATIVE The Income Tax Act is amended • to remove references and information that applied only to past taxation years; [s. 2 to 6] • to simplify the formulas used to calculate certain non-refundable tax credits; [s. 3] • to make the cultural industries printing tax credit permanent. Non-refundable credits for taxation year 4.6(2) The total of an individual's non-refundable tax credits for a taxation year is the total of (

A In this formula, A is the amount that would be the spouse's or partner's income for the year if no amount were deducted under paragraph 20(1)(ww) of the federal Act, or if the individual and the spouse or partner are living separate and apart at the end of the year because of a breakdown of their marriage or partnership, the amount that would be the spouse's or partner's income for the year while married or in the common-law partnership and not so separated if no amount were deducted under that paragraph. 3(2)

3(4) Subsection 4.6(12) is amended (

a) by striking out the description of P in the formula; and (

b) by replacing the formula with the following: A ! B/.108 3(4)
